Most magazines offer a free one or two magazines as a sample of their content, but afterwards they expect you to subscribe to them. If you find a magazine you like that covers any of those topics, mail a request for a few back copies if they have any.

Conversely, you can borrow magazines from the library free of charge.

Nowadays a lot of magazines are going out of business, it’s costly to print and distribute and people are cutting corners out of their budgets and buying or subscribing less - but you’ll save tons with a subscription rather than paying cover price, and then it is really not costly at all to subscribe to a good one (my Cosmo and Glamour are both under 20 dollars a year, and I get Blender for 12 dollars a year, VegNews for around 30, and Radar for 20 dollars a year). All of those are either food, fashion or music related, since those are my interests.
