Absolutely! Hollywood is such an effort of smoke and mirrors. And kids buy into it like that is real life. I stopped buying magazines like those a while ago. And I haven’t watched videos in years. Hollywood would make us all feel like we are ugly. It’s just not real.

I love it when we do video’s that help each other. There are so many young people out here that don’t like themselves, for one reason or another. They want to look like these stars, but you’re dead on…they’re all made up! Good video, Jazziboo

Don’t forget those fake male body builders, steroids. I tell little boys the same thing.

This vid is so real… if all parents did this I think it would make a significance difference in the way the majority felt about themselves!! Great Vid :)

Great Topic and wonderful message Jazziboo! Thank you for posting. Recently I read an article in Glamour, March issue called “Your Race, Your Looks” would love to hear anyone’s opinion on it. It was a nice attempt but many issues weren’t discussed. As a woman of color, a college student, and someone who has worked in a professional environment it also made me sad. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. If you have the time please look and tell me what you think.
    take care,

Great video Jazziboo! I used to do that when I was younger as well. We really do need to uplift our young girls and instill in their minds that they are beautiful before the media does it for us. Great topic.

Very Powerful and TRUE message that many women need to hear. I always say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that is why I always be holding it!” LOL it’s a fun way to be happy about who you are and a cute reminder to love yourself. Confidence is the backbone of beautiful…and Jazzi you are the heart of it! Great Vid Hon!

I use Noxema too, it’s inexpensive and works great!

One thing I hope is that mothers and fathers are teaching their sons (black & white) that all women are beautiful. It’s hard for little dark-skinned girls with ***** hair to feel pretty in school when all of the boys are chasing the light-skinned girl with the curly hair. In turn, it’s hard for parents to teach their sons that because many of our sports figures are marrying the opposite of what some boys see in their neighborhoods.

Part 2. So, thank you for this VLOG. More people need to know to teach and HOW to teach their children to celebrate diversity.

i absolutely love stories like this! start teaching them young. lol. my mother had no clue that i wasnt eating at all until one day i was so sick i couldnt move. i was trying to get as small as kate moss. i did, but starved myself to do it. through time and therapy, i learned to be okay with me. wow! i’m so proud of your 4-year-old! she is so smart! speaking of which, can nana send me some beans and rice too? lol

I used to use Noxema a long time ago. Now I use Mary Kay’s Time Wise ****** cleanser and moisturizer. I didn’t think it would really do anything for my skin but it works wonders AND it’s fragrance free…..which is a plus for me! Were you talking about Alec Wek? She’s beautiful and she’s almost the blue black color you were describing. Good point sis….but not only is it the young girls that “look up” to these “perfect” women…..grown women do it too :o(

I think your Noxema was wearing off as you spoke…N E whoooo, I support this vid so much and if I had a daughter, I will tell her exactly what you suggested….Everything you see in the magazine, tv’s and music videos are what they seem! All that glitters ain’t gold hunny and that’s a proven fact! Nice chattin’ with ya. Talk to ya lata.

Nia, my 4 year old was looking in an Allure magazine with me and she said “mommy this lady needs some of nana’s beans and rice, her bones are to sharp” LOL I couldn’t say a word.

My children are conscious of the false images on tv and in magazines but I still let them know what’s what.

Alek Wek is her name and she has the most amazing skin in the world, my dad is her same complexion
