How do I get in to writing articles for magazines?

Foig F asked:

I enjoy writing and I am interested in getting various articles published in magazines. I would like to earn extra cash from this as a hobby but to be perfectly honest, I don’t know where to start, or what the procedure would be. Can anyone help?

Start at your local library by seeing if they have reference book Writers Market for books and magazines. This book will tell you subject mater and word count wanted along with addresses to send letter of inquire. The term SASE mean enclose self-addressed stamped envelope. There is another reference book on formatting works of literature or something like that forget exact title. It includes section on formatting letters of inquire. Write up a professional looking inquire letter and send it with necessary information and sase to correct address. It’s interesting waiting for response: best of luck.
