How long should an interview for a magazine last?

I’m writing an article for an engineering magazine at my university. The article will be 1000 words long, and I’m interviewing the dean of engineering. I need to let his secretary know my times of availability, but I’m not sure how much space I need to reserve for the interview. Any suggestions?

I figure at least an hour. You will need to have lots of time B/c some question you may decide to omit, and you want to be sure to get 1000 words.
